NIPUN Week” Concludes Successfully Large Participation from Parents, Teachers, and Students

Bhubaneswar, September 19, 2025: The state-wide “NIPUN Week” program, organized across government schools by the School & Mass Education Department, concluded successfully with much enthusiasm. The final day of the week-long initiative witnessed a festive atmosphere in schools, with massive participation from parents, teachers, and students.

Special awareness sessions were conducted for mothers, highlighting the importance of foundational literacy and numeracy. Through storytelling sessions and reading promotion activities, parents were guided on how to support their children’s learning at home. Students’ report cards were also displayed during the program.

The first two days of the event focused on foundational numeracy. Children engaged in math games, puzzles, and story-based activity cards with great excitement. On the third and fourth days, emphasis was laid on foundational literacy. Students practiced language, decoding, reading, and writing through stories, songs, games, and various teaching-learning materials.

The NIPUN Week initiative is a significant step toward strengthening students’ foundational literacy and numeracy skills, preparing them for lifelong learning. Since its launch, the program has increased children’s interest in learning. Play-based methods have helped them grasp mathematical concepts such as counting, addition, and subtraction with ease, while storytelling and word games have improved their language and comprehension abilities. Students are becoming more attentive towards studies, with noticeable growth in confidence.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi launched the “NIPUN Odisha” Mission on September 5, 2024. The mission aims to ensure that every child in the state between the ages of 3 and 8 attains foundational skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic at the primary level. NIPUN Week is an innovative initiative under this mission to strengthen foundational learning, make education more creative and inclusive, and strengthen school-community engagement.
