Farmer Registration Extended to August 25

Bhubaneswar, 23 Aug, 2025: The Odisha government has extended the deadline for farmer registration under the Kharif season scheme to August 25, aiming to enrol over 20 lakh farmers. As of now, 17 lakh farmers have already registered, and the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra expressed confidence that the target will be met. To facilitate smoother registration, the government has simplified the process by removing the mandatory requirement of legal heir certificates and family consent forms. Previously, farmers had to obtain approval from all legal heirs and submit documents from Revenue Inspectors (RI), which often led to delays and exclusions. Now, farmers can register directly using a self-declaration form issued by the department. This reform is expected to prevent disputes and ensure the timely procurement of paddy. The extension from August 20 to August 25 reflects the government’s commitment to farmer welfare and inclusive participation.
