Bhubaneswar,19/03/2026: An Assistant Teacher in Bhubaneswar suspended for alleged negligence in carrying out duties related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. Rashmi Sahoo, posted at Government High School, Chandrasekharpur Phase-II, had been appointed as Booth Level Officer (BLO) for Booth No. 109 under Assembly Constituency No. 113. She was assigned responsibilities under the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and 1951 for the revision of electoral rolls.
According to reports, Sahoo failed to attend and discharge her assigned SIR duties without valid reason or prior approval. Authorities termed the lapse as gross negligence, dereliction of duty, and disobedience of lawful orders. Suspension ordered by District Election Officer Taking swift action, District Election Officer and BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana ordered her suspension under Section 32(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. During the suspension period, the teacher has been directed not to leave her headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
