BEGUNIA TAHASIL DEO NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 8,000/-

Begunia, 15/10/25: Today i.e on 15.10.25, a short while ago, Smt. Smruti Jayashree, Data Entry Operator( DEO), O/o Tahasildar, Begunia, Dist- Khordha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs. 8,000/- from a complainant for online processing of the file towards conversion of their land from agricultural to non-agricultural purpose. As per Govt rules, complt had applied online on 1.9.2025 for the above purpose. But, accused DEO was not processing the file online for conversion of agricultural land and was demanding bribe Rs.8,000/- from the complt to initiate the file, which prompted complt to report the matter to Vigilance authorities. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Smt. Smruti Jayashree, DEO today, while taking bribe Rs 8,000/- from the complt. The tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from exclusive possession of accused Smt. Smruti Jayashree.Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted associated with her two locations from the DA angle.In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 23 dated 14.10.2025, U/s 7 of the P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Smt Smruti Jayashree, DEO. Detailed report follows.
