Bhubaneswar,19/03/26: The Odisha government has identified the presence of valuable minerals, including diamonds and gold, in multiple districts of the state, Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed the Assembly today. while replying to a question, Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed the Assembly that traces of diamonds have been detected at Kalamidadar in Nuapada district. Detailed technical, economic and related feasibility studies are currently in progress to assess the viability of extraction.
Similarly, indications of ruby deposits have been found in the Hinjilibahal-Jilingibar area under the Junagarh block in Kalahandi district. Apart from gemstones, significant deposits of other minerals have also been reported. In the Adas-Rampalli area of Riamal block in Deogarh district, the presence of copper-bearing ore, graphite, nickel and gold has been found. In Mayurbhanj district, estimates have been made regarding the existence of gold along with copper ore in the Madansahi-Kanjia area under Kuliana block. Additionally, gold deposits have been traced in the Gopur-Jaldihi area of the Banspal block in Keonjhar district, the minister said.
