Kolkata: In a significant development ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Chandra Bose, grandnephew of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), adding fresh momentum to the party’s campaign. Chandra Bose, who has been associated with various political and social initiatives in the past, formally joined the ruling party in the presence of senior TMC leaders in Kolkata. His entry is being viewed as a symbolic as well as strategic move, given his lineage and public standing.
Welcoming him into the party, TMC leaders said Bose’s association would strengthen their outreach, particularly among voters who hold Netaji’s legacy in high regard. They also emphasized the party’s commitment to preserving the ideals of Subhas Chandra Bose, including nationalism, social justice, and inclusive development.
Speaking after joining, Chandra Bose expressed confidence in the leadership of TMC and highlighted the need for unity and progress in the state. He noted that his decision was driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to West Bengal’s growth and uphold the values championed by his granduncle.
The high-voltage West Bengal Assembly elections are expected to witness intense competition, with major parties ramping up their campaigns across the state. Bose’s induction into TMC is likely to further sharpen the political narrative in the days leading up to the polls.
