Bhubaneswar (Garvit Odia NN): The Odisha government has issued directives to implement all rural development schemes under the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department with greater urgency and responsibility, especially in backward blocks and districts. A high-level review meeting chaired by Hon’ble Minister Shri Rabi Narayan Naik and focused on key flagship programmes such as Mo Ghara Yojana, Biju Pucca Ghar, Rural Housing under PMAY (G), MGNREGS (NREGS), and ongoing drinking water projects across the state. Special attention was given to 30 backward blocks and 3 underperforming districts, where project implementation has lagged. These areas will now be closely monitored through a dedicated dashboard, and daily project tracking will be undertaken. Strict instructions were given for field-level accountability and visible action in regions marked by delays or inefficiency.
The Minister also ordered comprehensive on-ground reviews of all drinking water projects, instructing officials to prioritize ensuring safe and adequate drinking water in rural areas. A total of 207 projects are under active scrutiny, and updates are to be shared regularly for timely completion. The government’s push aims to fast-track rural development, improve service delivery, and ensure that basic infrastructure reaches every village in the state.
