WORLD PHARMACIST DAY CELEBRATED AT SUM ULTIMATE MEDICARE

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 27: World Pharmacist Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) here on Thursday featuring insightful speeches, engaging discussions and lively cultural performances by staff members.The program was attended by Brig. (Dr.) Biraj Mohan Mishra, Chief of Medical Services, and Dr. Prashant Kumar Panda, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, as guests.
After Mr. Dillip Kumar Das Mohapatra, Head of Department of Pharmacy, highlighted the indispensable role played by pharmacists in ensuring safe and effective healthcare delivery, Dr. Swetapadma Dash, Chief Executive Officer, conveyed a special message stating “Pharmacists are the custodians of medication safety.”
“Their expertise ensures not only effective treatment but also patient confidence in the healthcare system,” she said.
This year’s global theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” held centrestage as the discussions emphasized the vital contribution of pharmacists in patient care, medication safety and the promotion of rational drug use.
In a message, Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan, said, “the role of the pharmacist extends far beyond dispensing medicines — they are key healthcare partners who strengthen the very foundation of patient well-being.” The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Santosh Kumar Nayak, Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacology.The occasion stood as a reminder of the indispensable role pharmacists play in advancing healthcare systems and safeguarding patient well-being.
